Abstract
El presente trabajo de suficiencia profesional tiene como objetivo elaborar un plan de manejo agronómico para el cultivo de sandía tipo Crimson Sweet, adaptado a las condiciones del valle de Cañete, Lima Perú, dirigido a agricultores, empresarios, técnicos, estudiantes e ingenieros agrónomos y afines. Así mismo, busca caracterizar las condiciones agroecológicas del valle, sistematizar las prácticas de manejo agronómico aplicadas al cultivo comercial de sandía y establecer criterios técnicos para la cosecha, selección de frutos, articulación al mercado y evaluación del rendimiento y calidad del cultivo bajo el manejo propuesto. La metodología se desarrolla en dos componentes: La elaboración de un plan de manejo agronómico integrado para el cultivo de sandía tipo Crimson Sweet en las condiciones del valle de Cañete y su articulación al mercado. Como resultado principal, se presenta un documento técnico estructurado que integra los principales aspectos del manejo agronómico del cultivo, tales como la elección de la semilla de calidad, el almácigo, las labores culturales, el manejo de plagas, enfermedades y malezas, la postcosecha y la articulación al mercado para la sandía tipo Crimson Sweet cv. River Side adaptado a las condiciones del valle de Cañete, cuyo clima está clasificado como desértico subtropical costero influenciado por la corriente fría de Humbolt, con disponibilidad de agua del río Cañete para el riego predominantemente por gravedad y un enfoque de eficiencia de los recursos. Las condiciones agroecológicas del valle de Cañete son favorables para la producción de sandía, con suelos tipo Entisoles en la zona agrícola con buen drenaje y nivel de fertilidad y clima cálido con temperaturas promedio dentro de la campaña agrícola 2024- 2025 que oscilaron entre 22 y 24 °C, con máximas de 30 a 31 °C en verano y humedad relativa entre 70 y 80%, condiciones favorables para la producción eficiente del cultivo.
This professional development project aims to create an agronomic management plan for Crimson Sweet watermelon cultivation, adapted to the conditions of the Cañete Valley in Lima, Peru. It is intended for farmers, business owners, technicians, students, and agronomists and related professionals. The project also seeks to characterize the valley's agroecological conditions, systematize agronomic management practices applied to commercial watermelon cultivation, and establish technical criteria for harvesting, fruit selection, market access, and evaluation of crop yield and quality under the proposed management system. The methodology is developed in two components: the creation of an integrated agronomic management plan for Crimson Sweet watermelon cultivation in the Cañete Valley and its integration into the market. The main result is a structured technical document that integrates the main aspects of the agronomic management of the crop, such as the choice of quality seed, the nursery, cultural practices, the management of pests, diseases and weeds, post-harvest and the articulation to the market for the Crimson Sweet cv. River Side watermelon adapted to the conditions of the Cañete valley, whose climate is classified as coastal subtropical desert influenced by the cold Humboldt current, with water availability from the Cañete river for irrigation predominantly by gravity and a focus on resource efficiency. The agroecological conditions of the Cañete valley are favorable for watermelon production, with Entisol-type soils in the agricultural zone with good drainage and fertility level and a warm climate with average temperatures during the 2024-2025 agricultural season ranging between 22 and 24 °C, with maximums of 30 to 31 °C in summer and relative humidity between 70 and 80%, favorable conditions for the efficient production of the crop.
