Abstract
The objective of this research was to develop a production and marketing strategy to improve the profits of the members of the San Martín de Porres agricultural cooperative in the medium term. It is a descriptive study with the purpose of identifying the production and marketing management capacity of agricultural cooperatives dedicated to lemon cultivation in Lambayeque. It is a non experimental research, observing management behavior in the San Martín de Porres Agricultural Cooperative. Surveys and interviews were conducted with members and leaders, and the SWOT situational diagnosis, the external factors matrix (EFE) and the internal factors evaluation matrix (IFE) were used as tools. Among the main results is the establishment of a baseline lemon production of 17.01 T/ha per year, lower productivity than the average for the region (18.95 T/ha), with a lemon production cost of S/ 0.41 per kilo. As of August 2022, the industrial market, to which 63% of their production is directed, pays an average of S/ 0.40 per kilo, which means that they are working at a loss, except for the better price obtained in the consumer market during periods of low supply. Therefore, it is important to keep statistical control of production and crop management plans in order to improve productivity and thus reduce costs and increase profitability. It is also important to partner with other cooperatives to obtain a better price in the industrial market, considering that the demand for lemon essential oil for export is on the rise.
