Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the quality of Pinus tecunumanii seedlings after the use of phenolic foams and application of different doses of fertilizer to determine a production protocol in the Vivero Forestal “La Molina” – Sede Oxapampa. This responds to the necessity of generating innovative research for forestry sector at the nursery level. For this purpose, a trial of 12 treatments was installed based on the combination of three foam dimensions (3 cm x 3 cm x 7 cm; 4 cm x 4 cm x 10 cm; 4 cm x 4 cm x 14 cm) and four fertilizations (three different dosages of fertilizer and a control without fertilizer). The morphological attributes of height, root collar diameter, aerial and root dry biomass were evaluated and the quality indexes of robustness index, stem height/root length ratio, stem-root index, lignification index and Dickson index were determined. To evaluate the influence of the treatments, a Completely Randomized Experimental Design DCA was used with 30 replicates per treatment. The study showed that unfertilized seedlings (T1, T5, T9) obtained the highest survival values and relatively healthy individuals, although they were of low quality according to Dickson's index. In addition, highly significant differences were obtained in the effect of fertilizer dosage (F2) on height, although the concentrations used had non-beneficial effects on the seedlings compared to the controls. It was concluded that is not possible to recommend a production protocol, but it was shown that fertilizer dosages and foam dimensions do influence seedling height, survival and phytosanitary status. This suggests that it is necessary to continue with research based on the results obtained to find a production system that provides good quality seedlings.
