Manejo del césped americano (Stenotaphrum secundatum) en las áreas verdes del distrito de La Molina

Abstract

El presente trabajo de suficiencia profesional tiene como objetivo describir y brindar soluciones a los problemas identificados en el manejo del césped americano (Stenotaphrum secundatum) durante el servicio de mantenimiento de las áreas verdes públicas del distrito de La Molina, bajo el concurso público N.º 001-2021-MDLM. En el cual se llevó a cabo la recuperación de espacios por medio de la siembra por esquejes y el mantenimiento del césped. En la siembra por esquejes, una buena preparación de terreno e incorporación de materia orgánica (humus de lombriz) favorecieron la infiltración y retención de humedad disponible para el césped, haciendo que el prendimiento de los esquejes aumentara un 20%. Asimismo, al aumentar la densidad de siembra disminuyó la proliferación de malezas en un 30% y el tiempo de cobertura del césped en un mes. Por otra parte, un buen mantenimiento del césped, es aquel que toma en cuentas las condiciones climáticas, tipo de suelo, disponibilidad de agua y desgaste por actividad, por ejemplo, en terrenos gravosos las labores conjuntas de aireación, aplicación de humus de lombriz y el riego, permitieron mejorar la retención de humedad del suelo y que el vigor del césped aumentara un 15%. Por último, la reorganización del servicio de corte de césped permitió disminuir aproximadamente un 22% del tiempo para realizar el corte de todas las áreas verdes del distrito.

This professional proficiency report aims to describe and provide solutions to the problems identified in the management of St. Augustine grass (Stenotaphrum secundatum) during the maintenance service of public green areas in the district of La Molina, under Public Tender No. 001-2021-MDLM. This project involved recovering public spaces through stolon planting (sprigging) and turfgrass maintenance. In stolon planting, proper soil preparation and the incorporation of organic matter (earthworm castings) improved water infiltration and moisture retention for the grass, increasing the survival rate of the stolons by 20%. Furthermore, increasing the planting density reduced weed proliferation by 30% and shortened the turf establishment time by one month. On the other hand, proper turfgrass maintenance must consider weather conditions, soil type, water availability, and wear from usage. For instance, in gravelly soils, the combined efforts of aeration, earthworm castings application, and irrigation improved soil moisture retention and increased turf vigor by 15%. Finally, reorganizing the mowing service reduced the time required to mow all the district's green areas by approximately 22%.
