Eficiencia económica de la semilla de arroz liberada por el INIA

Abstract

La semilla certificada es un elemento básico para mejorar los rendimientos y la calidad de los cultivos, por ello el objetivo de evaluar el impacto económico del uso de la semilla INIA 508 - Tinajones en la producción de arroz en la costa del Perú, cultivo muy importante para muchos productores de esta zona. El objetivo fue evaluar la mejora en rentabilidad de los productores de arroz al usar esta semilla empleando el presupuesto parcial. Se usó datos secundarios de las Direcciones Regionales Agrarias. Se encontró que los productores incrementan su margen bruto por hectárea en S/2349.39 y obtienen un Beneficio Costo Marginal mayor que 1 (1.03). También se encontró que se reduciría en 4 centavos por kilo los costos de producción de arroz en consecuencia se hacía más competitiva la producción de los arroceros de la costa peruana. Se recomienda investigar los efectos de emplear semilla certificada en otros cultivos como la papa y el maíz amarillo duro.

Certified seed is a basic element to improve yields and crop quality, therefore the objective of evaluating the economic impact of using INIA 508 -Tinajones seed in rice production on the coast of Peru, a very important crop for many producers in this area. The aim was to evaluate the improvement in the profitability of the rice growers when they used this seed with the help of the partial budget. Secondary data from the Regional Agrarian Directorates was used. It was found that producers increase their gross margin per hectare by S/2349.39 and obtain a Marginal Cost Benefit greater than 1 (1.08). It was also found that rice production costs would be reduced by 4 cents per kilo, consequently making the production of rice growers on the Peruvian coast more competitive. It is recommended to investigate the effects of using certified seed in other crops such as potatoes and hard yellow corn.
