Abstract
The project "Tropical Forest Adaptation and Development for Conservation in the Peruvian Amazon Headwaters" (TRAFO), implemented by WWF Peru in the Boca Pariamanu native community, aimed to establish a conservation agreement for the community's forests, which covered an area of 1,593.14 hectares. The active participation of the community and its organizations played a crucial role in the different phases of the project, which included updating the community life plan, cost analysis of productive activities, the planning of investments, and the establishment of a control and surveillance system. It is important to note that along the process, management skills for the conservation of their territories and biodiversity were strengthened, involving community members in key decisions. The signing of a conservation agreement led to the identification of a Support Organization, responsible of managing the funds for the implementation of the agreement, as well as the formation of a Conservation Council formed by representatives of various entities. Transparency and community participation were essential elements to guarantee the legitimacy and sustainability of the actions undertaken.
