Abstract
The present research aimed to identify and describe the structural deficiencies and the level of seismic vulnerability in the buildings of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the National University of San Marcos during the year 2025. A field technical inspection was carried out to record the spatial configuration, structural system, functional use, and the main visible pathologies in the evaluated blocks. Subsequently, the FEMA P-154 rapid screening method, based on the NEHRP program, was applied in order to estimate the preliminary level of seismic vulnerability through the structural score SL1. The results revealed recurrent deficiencies such as exposed reinforcement steel, cold joints between walls and columns, damage in structural joints, and non-technical modifications in load-bearing elements. Most of the evaluated blocks obtained scores below the recommended minimum, indicating a significant level of seismic vulnerability. It is concluded that there is a relationship between the accumulation of structural pathologies and the low scores obtained, confirming the usefulness of the method as a preliminary diagnostic tool and highlighting the need for detailed structural evaluations for future interventions.
