Este trabajo de suficiencia profesional aborda el manejo de la cosecha del arándano en el fundo El Algarrobal, ubicado en el Proyecto de Irrigación de Olmos. Perú es el principal exportador mundial de arándanos y la calidad de cosecha en campo es un factor crítico para mantener esa posición. El documento describe detalladamente las etapas previas, durante y posteriores a la cosecha del arándano, con énfasis en los criterios técnicos, la organización del personal, los indicadores de madurez del fruto, y los protocolos de calidad e inocuidad. Se realiza una planificación acorde con la fenología utilizando como herramienta la poda escalonada que permite tener una cosecha continua entre julio y marzo. La variedad dominante es Rocio, conocida por su fácil cosecha, buena firmeza y adaptación al clima cálido. El proceso de cosecha es manual e intensivo en mano de obra y depende de factores como la experiencia del cosechador, las condiciones climáticas y la disponibilidad de fruta. El personal que realiza la labor está organizado en cuadrillas con funciones claras y se emplean estrictos protocolos de higiene y evaluación en campo. Además, se identifican limitaciones como temperaturas elevadas, lluvias, rocío, polvo, daños por aves y escasez de mano de obra, los cuales afectan la eficiencia y la calidad del producto. En sus conclusiones se destaca la importancia de la planificación y el monitoreo constante como claves para obtener fruta de exportación de alta calidad.
This professional competency project addresses the management of blueberry harvesting at the El Algarrobal farm, located within the Olmos Irrigation Project. Peru is the world’s leading exporter of blueberries, and field harvest quality is a critical factor in maintaining that position. The document details the stages before, during, and after the harvest, with an emphasis on technical criteria, personnel organization, fruit maturity indicators, and quality and safety protocols. Harvest planning is carried out according to the plant’s phenology, using staggered pruning as a tool to enable continuous harvesting from July to March. The dominant variety is Rocío, known for its easy harvesting, good firmness, and adaptability to warm climates. The harvesting process is manual and labor-intensive, depending on factors such as the picker’s experience, weather conditions, and fruit availability. The workforce is organized into squads with clearly defined roles, and strict hygiene and field evaluation protocols are applied. In addition, limitations such as high temperatures, rainfall, dew, dust, bird damage, and labor shortages are identified, all of which affect efficiency and product quality. The conclusions highlight the importance of strategic planning and continuous monitoring as key factors in achieving high-quality export-grade fruit.
