Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the morphometric and seminal attributes of award-winning adult males used in “Bullfighting” in the southern region of Peru, Arequipa. The study was carried out in the countryside of the city of Arequipa, collecting information from 100 bulls regarding morphometric measurements, which were: Height at the cross (AC), thoracic perimeter (PT), body length (LC), perimeter of Anterior shank (PCA, rump length (LG), rump width (HG), rump height (AG), three measures were included for strength characteristics of the fighting bull; neck perimeter (PCLL), distance between base of horns (DBC) and distance between horns tip (DPC) As for the pheno-optical characteristics of the fighting bull, a survey was conducted of 321 breeders and hobbyists to identify the colors of mantle known in Arequipa, also classifying the bulls In evaluation: Of the 100 bulls measured morphometrically, 6 bulls were chosen, at the disposal of the owners for the seminal collection and subsequent evaluation in fresh, chilled and thawed state. where breeders gave a score to behavioral qualities in combat. The results obtained from the biometric measurements, showed that the fighting bulls for both weight categories are strong aplomb cattle, good thoracic and abdominal depth, have a selected antler for the fight and a developed neck. Regarding mantle colors, it was reported that the denomination of fur in a survey and the 100 bulls measured, obtained a higher frequency of denomination the title of Painted with 37 percent, followed by the color Black 20 percent. In relation to the seminal characteristics, it was found that the semen of the fighting bulls has a beneficial freeze, this favors their conservation possibilities under the semen conservation of award-winning
