Abstract
This professional proficiency work describes the implementation and compliance process of the GLOBALG.A.P. and LEAF Mark standards on avocado farms dedicated to agro-export, with the purpose of evaluating their contribution to strengthening environmental sustainability, food safety, and the competitiveness of the Peruvian agro-export sector. The experience was carried out on farms located on the northern coast of Peru. This research was developed using a descriptive approach, based on the technical review of the control points and compliance criteria of both standards, as well as on the direct observation of certification processes for these standards on farms that were certifying for the first time and that was undergoing recertification. The areas of convergence and divergence between the standards were identified, and the operational, environmental, and social impacts resulting from their implementation were evaluated. Overall, the implementation of these certifications not only increases the competitiveness of Peruvian agro-exports but also positions the country as a benchmark for sustainable agriculture and safe products.
