Abstract
El presente trabajo evalúa la concentración de material particulado PM2.5 y PM10 en la ciclovía de la Avenida Arequipa, Lima, durante el año 2021. Se monitorearon dos periodos estacionales (otoño y primavera) con el objetivo de analizar el impacto de la restricción vehicular los domingos, conocida como "Ciclovía Recreativa". A través de equipos automáticos y análisis estadístico, se identificaron patrones de calidad del aire y se compararon días con y sin restricciones vehiculares. Los resultados indican que, aunque se observaron reducciones leves en las concentraciones de material particulado los domingos, estas no fueron estadísticamente significativas. Esto se atribuye a fuentes contaminantes cercanas y otras dinámicas urbanas. El análisis estacional mostró mayores concentraciones en otoño, posiblemente influenciadas por factores climáticos. Los hallazgos resaltan la importancia de implementar medidas más integrales y continuas para mejorar la calidad del aire en la ciudad. Este estudio proporciona información útil para promover políticas de movilidad sostenible y resalta la necesidad de esfuerzos coordinados para reducir la contaminación del aire en Lima.
This study evaluates the concentration of PM2.5 and PM10 particulate matter on the bike lane on Arequipa Avenue, Lima, in 2021. Two seasonal periods (fall and spring) were monitored to analyze the impact of Sunday vehicle restrictions, known as “Ciclovía Recreativa” (Recreational Bike Path). Using automatic equipment and statistical analysis, air quality patterns were identified and days with and without vehicle restrictions were compared. The results indicate were not statistically significant, although slight reductions in particulate matter concentrations were observed on Sundays. This is attributed to nearby pollution sources and other urban dynamics. Seasonal analysis showed higher concentrations in autumn, possibly influenced by weather factors. The findings highlight the importance of implementing more comprehensive and continuous measures to improve air quality in the city. This study provides useful information for promoting sustainable mobility policies and emphasize the need for coordinated efforts to reduce air pollution in Lima.
