Abstract
The purpose of this research was to determine the population fluctuations of insect herbivores in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) crops, describe the damage caused, determine the presence of predatory and parasitic insects, and determine the percentage of parasitism by herbivorous insects in the Majes-Siguas Special Project, Stage I, located in the Caylloma - Arequipa Region, between July and November 2023. The evaluations were carried out every 7 days by using capture techniques with pitfall traps, evaluation of plant organs, and entomological netting. The handling, processing, mounting, labeling and identification of the samples obtained in the field were carried out in the Entomology laboratory of the Faculty of Biology of the UNSA, and the final identified samples became part of the collection of the Klaus Raven Büller Entomology Museum of the UNA La Molina. The results show the presence of 86 morphospecies grouped in the orders Diptera, Thysanoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera associated with the quinoa crop of the Blanca de Juli variety. The greatest abundance was observed in the order Thysanoptera, while the most diverse order was Diptera with 17 families and 30 morphospecies. The natural enemies recorded are in the orders Diptera, Coleoptera, Neuroptera and Hymenoptera: Parasitica. Population fluctuations of the entomofauna associated with the quinoa crop have possibly been influenced by pesticide applications, variations in temperature and humidity values and by the phenological phases of crop development.
