Abstract
The present research project took place in the Cactus and Succulent Nursery of the Investigation and Social Projection Program in Ornamental Plants located in the Universidad Nacional Agraria la Molina. The objective was to evaluate the effect of 5 pregerminative treatments for overcoming the dormancy in seeds of 2 species of native cactus: Matucana formosa y M. krahni, it was used 4 repetitions of 25 seed per treatment. For reaching that, there were evaluated variables base don germination and young plant dimensions at 40 days after sowing. There were significant differences for the pregerminative treatment factor in the variables of Rate of seed germinated, Speed of germination, Radicle length, Height and Diameter of young plants. Moreover, there were significant differences in the species factor only for Radicle length, Height and Diameter of young plants. It was found that the pregerminative treatment of the immersion in giberelic acid at 50 ppm for a day reached the best effect in increasing all the variables, in addition, the treatments of chemical scarification with hydrogen peroxide at 3% and physic scarification with sandpaper also reached positive effects. However, it was observed that the treatment of thermic scarification with hot water at 70°C for 30 minutes got a negative effect in all the variables
