Abstract
The current Professional Sufficiency Work assesses the economic feasibility of a greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation project by installing improved cookstoves in Pachitea, Huánuco. Information on the technology (Wanka Tullpa model) was collected to achieve this, and recognized methodologies such as the Kitchen Performance Test (KPT) and the TPDDTEC methodology of the Gold Standard were utilized. A cost-benefit analysis was then performed, incorporating both capital and operating costs and direct benefits (sale of carbon credits) and indirect benefits (savings in firewood consumption and time). With a 10-year evaluation horizon, the economic modeling estimates a total investment of S/. 11,859,473.33 and total benefits of S/. 16,619,029.63, resulting in a net gain of S/. 4,759,556.30. These results confirm the economic viability of the project, emphasizing its potential to reduce emissions, improve the quality of life in rural communities, and promote environmental and social sustainability.
