Abstract
The general objective of this study was to determine the factors associated with hemoglobin levels in pregnant women at the "Manuel Núñez Butrón" and "Carlos Monge Medrano" Reference Hospitals in Puno, 2018". The observational, analytical, correlational and retrospective method was used. The population consisted of 5812 clinical histories and a sample of 3192 of them, obtained from the Perinatal Computer System, in the SIP 2000 V3.0 application of the aforementioned reference hospitals. The data were exported to a spreadsheet and filtered according to inclusion criteria using the MySQL database manager and processed with IBM SPSS software, where 66,3 percent corresponded to the “Carlos Monge Medrano” hospital and 33,7 percent to the “Manuel Núñez Butrón” hospital, both hospitals located at approximately 3827 masl. For the diagnosis of anemia, the adjustment value of 3.1 was applied to the actual hemoglobin found, and for associated factors the maternal age, gestational age, pregestational body mass index, parity, intergestational period and educational level were considered. 14,6 percent were reported with hemoglobin of 10,0 to 10,9 g/dL, 15,5 percent with hemoglobin of 7,0 to 9,9 g/dL and 1,3 percent with hemoglobin < 7,0 g/dL, making a total of 31,4 percent of pregnant women with hemoglobin below normal values, diagnosed as anemic. For the statistical analysis of association, Pearson's correlation was applied, finding an association between hemoglobin levels and maternal age, gestational age, pre- gestational body mass index, parity, inter-birth period, and for the educational level, Spearman's correlation was applied, finding no association with the hemoglobin level of the pregnant women.
