The trial was conducted in the experimental plot of the Faculty of Agricultural Engineering of UNALM. The main objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of deficit underground irrigation due to partial drying of roots (SPR) in the cultivation of canchan variety, determining the yield, size, quality and quantity of tubes affected in water stress conditions. at 50% ETc and 100% ETc, comparing it with a 100% ETc control both with a type of irrigation side arrangement. The nutritional plan was estimated from a projected yield (60 t / ha) based on the absorption of nutrients by the crop, the dose being applied by fertigation: 160 kg / ha N, 80 kg / ha P2O5, 200 kg / has K2O. The trial was based on a completely random design; obtaining as a result three treatments (T-1, RP1 andRP2). The RPD is an irrigation technique by which one zone of the root system remains wet while the other area is once a water deficit. In the research, the experimental phase was carried out in two periods: the first, between days 40-80 after sowing (during flowering) and the second, between days 80-120 after sowing (during maturity). The characteristics evaluated were the emergency and the height of the plants. With the harvested tubers the total and commercial performance was evaluated, as well as the number and size of tubers. In post-harvest, the percentage of dry matter and the percentage of proteins present in the tubercles were determined. Statistical analysis showed that the results influenced by the type of irrigation are significant, and the effects influence the total yield, quality and water consumption. being the type of irrigation the one that had the greatest impact on the total yield. The total yields reached were 33.6 t / ha, 27.1t / ha and 24.5 t / ha for T-1, RP1 and RP2 respectively. It also significantly influences water consumption, achieving water resource savings of 45% and 67% for RP1 and RP2 treatments respectively when the SPR method is applied. In the quality of tubercles results are obtained with quality ranges considered good.en_US
